A poem is to me, much more
Than just words on a page

A poem is more than flow,
And is more than free verse.

More than finely timed rhyme.
A well written poem is more

than a treat for just the eyes
And the mind.

It must feel good to the lips
Make one feel mellow and fine

Should be expletive free,
without invective or graffiti

Taste good in one’s mouth
be ice cream for the mind

And Leave a warm, satisfied afterglow …after reading
like a fine Merlot wine
