A few words of Christmas
Holly, jolly
Mistletoe
Tinsel hanging
high and low
Tannenbaum
Silent night
Ornaments
and twinkle lights
Hot chocolate
Soldier toys
Tiresome song sung
of lil’ drummer boys
frosty nights
Warm hearts
Red and green sprinkles
On Christmas tarts
Wrapping paper
Ribbon bows
Red noses
and frozen toes
Wet gloves
Runny noses
Wind rushing in
Ere’ front door closes
Catalogues,
Shopping binges
Joints that complain
Like ol’ rusty hinges
Bracing smell
Of rosin and pine tar
Atop the tree
A single silver star
Bright eyes
Little children being nice
Best behavior
Santa might be checkin’ twice
Grandpa’s tired
This ol elf’s gotta call this a wrap
Too many words of Christmas crap
Gonna me take a jolly ol’ nap

charming...or Charmin?
David o Whalen Other people have said my writing was Charmin paper, but I'm sure they really meant charming.(you did...didn't you?) thanks for reading and commenting Raz, Appreciate ya!
A very elfin christmas
I love this pleasant little verse David it is what we all want for our kids, grand kids, wrapped up in simple but meaningful words, lovely keep up the good work, I almost forgot, your whisky tastes lovely,
and I only live 40 miles south of the Scottish border!
The spelling of whisky is without the e for scotch, but the Irish version, that of my people is with.
The Scots were an Irish tribe who invaded what is now known as Scotland and displaced the incumbent Picts!
So the Scottish people are largely descended from Irishmen! Ho, Ho. Ho!
Merry Christmas
Tom
If I'm Irish...
David o Whalen which I most sartinly am, can I have a pass on my "e" in me whiskeyword, or must I change it? A "mick" needing help from a "brit"! Faith and begorra! What's this warld comin' to Tommy me lad?? Thanks for your time and comment Tom, but seriously, should I change it? I like constructive comments!

David, Lovely to see an Irish kindred spirit set free!
My faether was from co Galway a place called Tuam, my mother although born in Ashington northumberland in England, was the daughter of a man from Co Mayo, and my mother's mum was called Ethelreda Rose Murphy, who was born in Whitehaven , Cumbria to i rish parents, so as far as the Brit bit goes David, the only factor in my case is where I was born, the rest of me is 100% Irish!
George Washiington's Grandma, Mildred Gale is buried in St Nichlas@ churchyard in Whitehaven.
I was born 5 miles from there and still live there today!
Tom
ps on Google Tom Higgins is as common as muck in Irish institututions, I don't mean those of the mental kind!
