Time And Money

Money can buy much,
The rich can enjoy life easy,
But for rich and poor,
Time, real time, is not for sale.
Another life lottery.

Who is the richer?
The man with wealth that dies young,
Or the poor old man,
Who sees children grow,
And then, his childrens children.

David

You have made some very rational points in this piece and I'm sure that you would get a variety of answers from many different corners. Since I've never been monetarily rich I would have to count my life's experiences as the source of my personal wealth. It is so true when you speak of watching your children and their children...many joys and many heartaches combined.

Im definately voting for the man without the money is richer. Not a question in my mind. Generations of family being all together is what is rich.
And i think the children seeing and spending time with the poor old man through the years, are very rich too. It goes both ways!
Great write Dave. Very thought provoking! I love these kind of tankas from you!!!

anyone who dies young is a tragic figure...

as I was just saying to Pete, in so many words, I have gained my most precious interest, writing, in my middle age. If I had died young I would never have found this interest and would have been the poorer for it. And I agree that family is one of our greatest wealths. Thanks for such thoughtful poems, Dave. Very well done! Joyce

Many Thanks

Pete, Linda and Joyce, for reading and commenting on this piece.
Very much appreciated, as always,
Dave
