Innocence

Innocence
Wide-eyed innocence

Character building days,
Soul shaping nights.
Dreaming of castles and conquests,
Battles against evil
Where the good would always win......

Innocence,
Wide-eyed innocence.

I like this,

really like this one Dave,
gentle and thought provoking.

Thanks Debs

It's another attempt at a minimilist piece!
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for the feedback,
Dave

Like this one

and the way it leaves you wondering, small and simplistic-great piece! :D ♥

Thank You Jewel

Glad you enjoyed, thank you for the read and comment,
Dave

Hey Dave,

I like the line "Where the good would always win...", you left this open to interpretation by letting it trail off. Kind of like the door of cynicism starts to open a crack. Then you end with innocence. I like this, first pass through reading it was oh that's nice. Then I came back and I really like how this was written. I like the design in conjunction with the words. raskin

Thanks Raskin

That often happens to me as well! I'll read a piece and think, yeah it's ok, but then when I read it again there seems to be more to it than I first thought! I thought it was just me being slow!! Ha ha.
Thanks for your comments, and for reading more than once! Appreciate it,
Dave

Me too dave!

I usually have to read a piece over a few times...to understand it. But thats exactly what i LOVE about poetry. It keeps me thinking...like this one of yours...its really beautifully written and i can relate right about now thinking about my son heading off to college in a month.
Wide eyed innocence!
I love it!

Thanks Linda

Appreciate you thoughts on this, and good luck to your son as well! I'm sure he'll have a great time at college!
Thank you again,
Dave

Hi David,

Remember me? I like this poem a lot, David. You are a fine poet.
I wanted to thank you for introducing me to the tanka form of poetry last year when I was still new to this site and the world of poetry. This weekend I heard from the editor of the on-line poetry journal "Simply Haiku" that she had accepted three of my tanka for publication in their November 2009 journal. Needless to say, I am thrilled, and you were the one who started me in that direction. I owe you a tremendous debt of gratitude, my friend. Joyce

Hello Joyce

I'm very pleased that you are having some of your work published, congratulations, must be a tremendous thrill for you! Your work is very good and deserves to be shown to a greater audience, it's always good to hear good news! :)
Yes I remember you, and a comment you left on one of my writes in particular. Your understanding of that write was spot on, I didn't tell you at the time, but thank you for reading between the lines.
Glad to know you're doing well, let me know if you have more writes published (I'M GUESSING YOU WILL!), always a pleasure to hear from you,
Dave

Hi Dave!

Thanks so much, Dave. I just heard from the Senryu editor of "Simply Haiku" and he is considering one of my senryu - he said it needs to be reworked so I sent him another version. Hope that one makes it. This is so exiciting. I hope things are going well for you too, my friend. It was very hard to leave the Showcase, but I was overwhelmed by work and doing two sites at once. I miss hearing all your voices. Joyce

Hi Joyce

I just wanted to say congratulations to you also! It's me Linda. I am so happy to hear your great news!
I have always loved your poetry.
take care
Linda
