It's All My Fault
Betrayal round every bend,
Hatred leaping out of shadows.
Walking the tightrope of life,
Never looking down.
Precariously holding on,
Planning every move.
One step out of line,
Could mean the end of it all.
Two goliaths of power,
Two little boys.
Two respected genii,
Two impulsive children.
Walking the fence,
Tipping dangerously side to side,
Wait – that’s too much…
I fall…
Ground resonating…
Earth groaning…
Hopes destroyed…
Dreams shattering…
Nothing to dissuade War,
For the end has just begun.
Begging, pleading,
Cajoling, arguing…
All in vain.
His heart is set-
Now inevitable,
War moves in.
Chaotic scenes of pain,
Fleeting horrors,
Cries of those injured…
All spin past me.
I see nothing,
I hear nothing-
For I know it’s all my fault.
The weight of the war
On my shoulders…
The pains of friends
Are on my conscience…
For I know,
I know…
It’s all my fault.
