It runs deep in all of us, loathing
If you look closely at the people around you
You’ll see that some just hate everyone
For a myriad of reasons they hate others but
They fake it well with a smile and a nod
However the truth burns through
When you take time to listen to their words

Some loathe themselves deeply
But blame everyone else for their self hatred
Criticizing, judging and disregarding others
Holding that anger inside
Resentful of the rest
Disgusted with their own life
Therefore disgusted with the world

Then there are the furious few
If you could see their aura, it would appear to smolder
They will never let you know
Just how disturbed they really are
But inside, their rage burns
Never standing out in the crowd, never asking for help
They’re your friend, your teacher, your sister, your mother

They wear their mask like the rest of us
Appearing normal at times
They hide in the shadows only to smile in the light
Without knowing it we have become so self absorbed that
We never look closer, we never see past their mask
They are losing their souls, dying inside
With out ever really knowing why

This is the unfortunate human nature.
