Remembering Mom
I am flesh of her flesh and bone of her bones -- her blood courses through me.
My very life, yea, every beat of my heart is a witness that she lived, loved, nurtured and adored.
Though she is now gone, yea many years have passed, yet through me and mine she will forever live.
Her soul is ever near, in watchful care, over her children, yea her posterity, who yet walk upon life's treacherous paths ...
Of this I can attest ... motherhood never dies nor does it rest! As she patiently encourages, pleads and prompts -- understanding all the risks.
When life is over, we will yet again meet in our home on high ... embraced by love ... to break bread, to laugh aloud and sometimes cry.
Though the hour of our reunion seems an eternity away ... in this very moment ... as I ponder and reflect; I can yet again feel her close to me and sense her tenderness.

I wrote this poem 23 years after my mother passed. My mother passed within an hour of the time that my third child was born. Though this is a poem about motherhood, it is also a circle of life poem. The story relating to the inspiration for the poem can be found at my passion for writing site:
