The Towers Came Falling Down

Fate had seen a gleaming sun
shining on the ground.
Life progressed as everyday
here and all around.
Without a care they went their way
oblivious to the sound.
No one even had a clue,
that the towers were coming down.

But in a moment, a flash of light
and then a dreadful sound.
It shook our lives and touched our souls
with something so profound.
Terror struck the nations heart
and threw us to the ground.
We never even had a clue
that the towers were coming down.

We felt their pain throughout the globe,
where ever we were found.
Our hearts went out and home to them,
this day did all astound,
a call for all Americans
to help us stand our ground.
And to care for those who would survive,
when the towers came falling down.

Freedom is the dream we share,
it helps to keep us bound.
It gave us hope to carry on
in all the strife we've found.
For all we are and want to be,
freedom is the sound,
we raise it loud and raise it clear,
though the towers have fallen down.
So raise it loud and raise it clear,
because the towers have fallen down.

Beautifully written!

Beautifully written! Enjoyed reading it.

Thank you

Thank you for your kindness Jean, it is always appreciated.

This gave me chills

Clyde,
Not very often does a poem make me "feel" emotion and cause me to stop and think; this was one of them. The topic of 911 is still one of grief and sorrow. I am glad it has not been forgotten and has been kept alive with poems like this one. Outstanding !!!
