Forget-Me-Not
"Forget me not," I whispered,
as I softly kissed her cheek,
"my heart is just a flicker,
as a candle going weak."
"Forget me not," I said,
as she faded out of sight,
"my heart is apprehensive,
as a child in the night."
"Forget me not," I cried,
when no longer could I see,
"my heart is melancholy,
as a bird that's never free."
"Forget me not," I screamed,
though I knew she could not hear,
"my heart is astray in a lonely world,
when e'er you are not near."
