The Mouse and the Cat
I’ve got you now you little mouse,
Your tail beneath my paw
I’ll toy with you and have some fun,
And then you’ll be no more
Yes when I’m through I’ll have a bite
And swallow you as one
You can’t defend,
You’ll meet your end,
Your dying day has come
Please don’t eat me
The mousy said
I’m only skin and bone
I have a wife and children
And they’ll all be on their own
No need for that, said big fat cat
Don’t struggle yell and fain
Your efforts lost, I am the boss
your pleas go all in vain
You murderous thing
For once I wish, I was a nasty rat
I’d bite your bum. I’d make you run
You stupid big fat cat
Puss shifted weight but as he did
He lifted padded paw
The mouse got free
With shout of glee
He bolted for the door
The cat gave chase but was too slow
The mouse he was too quick
‘I’ll say adieu’ as he shot through
‘It seems you’re not so slick!’
Sad pussy sat on old door mat
And licked away his woes
I guess that when you're big and fat
That’s just the way it goes.
