Carmen's Psalm One

Hear me, O’Lord, please do not hide from me.
I look and see the rising sun but cannot reach it,
For I am in the shadows of mine own misery.
I seek you, but I do not find you,
It is myself that keeps me from you.
Forgive me, O’Lord, I am weary,
Give me rest in you for I have not my own strength.
I look at my feet and see shadows,
I see your light upon my path dear Lord,
But I cannot seem to walk upon it.
The dark shadow is upon my back,
I want to feel the warmth of your light on my face!
Deliver me from myself,
From my sins!
These people you have created mock me O’Lord,
May vengeance be yours and yours alone,
For I am too weary Lord to wrestle with such matters.
Hear my cry, O’Lord, I seek you out of the shadows of my sins!
Let your breath bring back life to my soul,
And your feet be my shield.
I look to see the setting sun,
The shadows seem to engulf me.
Put out your mighty hand O’Lord,
Pull me into you!
You my creator, are worthy of all praise!!
My eyes may look and not see,
But I know that I rest in the palm of your hands,
And that you my Lord have rescued me.
