SANCTUARY

Thy sanctuary towers
Where the night's long hand can't reach
A timeless castle, fixtured
Where no swords could ever breach
It looks down on the vallies
High atop the blinding hills
Enwrapped in golden sunlight
Crawling darkness, never spills
The shadowed wolves had chased me
Up unto it's harbored gates
Where saving hands had fetched me
Safely from their dinner plates
The foes that i had fought with
Through the chasms of my life
Had whimpered off so soundly
To the forests of the night
A solace drifted over
With the lifting of the ramp
As flooding light enclosured
Under God's eternal lamp
A fellowship of patrons
Had there surrounded me
And brought me to my senses
In the halls of trinity
Existing through the centuries
Still standing on it's soles
It's confines will forever be
A safe for wounded souls
The howling squalls and cold nightmares..
I sure have had my share
But I've not heard their bleeding calls
Ring through the quiet air
Thy sanctuary settles here
Up high, on golden hills
Where no long hand can bring me down
Back to those darkened fields
