~ Marigold ~
Marigold adorns the streets
Throughout the neighborhood
Chrysanthemums of imagery
Displayed, like non-else could
With decorations house to house
And pumpkins yard to yard
As children kick the new-piled leaves
While parents rake the shards
Gentle winds that sweep the air
Make maple trees to rain
Plummeting their ember leaves
Upon the littered plain
Elders sit upon the porch
And smoke their chimney pipes
Swaying in their wooden perch
Without a worried gripe
Cars and bikers funnel past
As golden leaflets spread
Giant acorns stream the sky
And clunk them on the haed
Women in their winter fleece
Go out to walk their dogs
Jogging in their spands and cleats,.,
While men slow down to bog
A squirrel leaps from a gutter pipe
And scurries down a ladder
Ms. Wheeler tumbles down with fright
And puffs up like an adder
Watching through my window frame
As comedy unfolds
This canvas filled with vivid scenes ..
On streets of marigold
