A Diamond is Forever

He looked into his soul and found, a broken diamond, that had been crushed
laying all around. It had once shined so bright, chasing the stars from the night.
He looked at it there, shattered into pieces, once a brilliant stone full of color, now
laid in pieces, crushed under the pressure of life. Each pieces a reminder of something lost,
each piece a remnant from his heart. Shine on you crazy diamond, pick up the pieces and
put them back together. Flaws build character it is said, don’t let the past fill your head,
with doubt and confusion, remorse and pain, don’t let your life be lived in vain. Pressure
had brought him to this moment in time, was loving or not loving such a crime. Could
forgiveness unleash happiness abound, or would the pieces of life forever be found, lying
on the ground in the emptiness of his soul, dying to stay young but growing cold. Chipped
and crushed into a sparkly dust, never again his heart to trust. No, he said, I must move
on, if only to the beat of a different song, played softly and clearly in a combustion of
tones, not understanding the melody and wandering alone. Around and around he went,
picking up each piece, until his diamond was all but at peace. He placed each pieces back
together, as the melody played the notes of pleasure. The sounds and the sights made
no sense, but he knew that he must tear down this fence, he had built with hate, fear
and anger, to protect his diamond from the crushing danger, of allowing it to be seen by
friend and foe, each one chipping off a piece and throwing it to the floor.
