The Great Civil War
far off, in the distance, can you hear?
the battle is beginning to rage
heart beats meet the pace of their hosts fears
beautiful youth take the stage
a role, the table set, a game of chess
though no cold figures stand,
each piece is suited with blood, bone, flesh
the mortal time is at hand
hear ye, the battle cries, the earth screams
soil, calling ash to ash
the grass being pushed by red streams
fire, iron and bone crash
in this pasture, where hell becomes real
touching down in this place
the angels or demons, come to take, to steal
void of mercy, void of grace

~Battlefields of Children~
Your subject is profound and so is your writing. You did a beautiful job with the images and sounds of your words. Your writing is explosive and the message so necessary.
Warm regards,
Kathy Paysen
