Lies can bruise
When said aloud
Lies to oneself
Have the propensity to kill
If kept locked in one's heart
The dichotomy of truth
Is one of Life's painful ideals
I will never fully comprehend
How I can deny my soul peace
For the happiness of others
Settling for pebbles
While I secretly wish
To be worthy of pearls
A secret
Suspected by many
Known by few
Can hardly be called a secret
And yet
My soul is beaten
Into unwilling submission
As I break the fragile wings of my heart
Telling myself
I am unworthy
Of such an angel's love
