“Sonnets Since September”: II
Born of the waves and formed from the foam;
The dry’s her hostel; wet’s her house and home.
She walks upon the water, swims in sand;
Many a mortal’s been drawn from dry land.
In search of Sirens never ‘er seen sound;
As anchors sink, the lost cannot be found.
Aphrodite, Venus, what’er her name,
Beguiling is her beauty; death her aim.
She sleeps within a shell- wakes on the shore;
You’ll want for no woman; wish for no more.
Poseidon promises what Neptune knows:
Secrets of sailors lie buried below.
As fools forever follow her down deep,
So children pray the Lord your souls to keep.

"Down Deep"
“Down Deep”
Words and music by: Brent Taylor Stenhouse
Chorus:
Down Deep… Sound Sleep
Drown Deep… Sound Sleep
Verse:
Born of the waves and formed from the foam
The dry is her hostel; the wet is her home
She walks on the water; she swims in the sand
And many a mortal’s been drawn from dry land
In search of a siren they’ve never seen sound
They sink like an anchor; the lost can be found…
Chorus
Verse:
Aphrodite or Venus, whatever her name
Her beauty’s beguiling; your end is her aim
She sleeps in a shell; she wakes on the shore
You’ll want for no woman; you’ll wish for no more
Poseidon will promise what Neptune now knows
The secrets of sailors lie buried below…
Chorus
Bridge:
She will remember your name
Will always remember your name
You will regret, but she won’t forget
She’ll always remember your name
Chorus
(alt. Lyric/melody):
How blue is the ocean?
How green is the sea?
How true is the notion that no man is free?

very good
I like how this flows, I really enjoyed reading it. A joy to read. I am fond of water and grew up hearing stories and legends, so I am fond of poems that include them. Thanks for sharing. raskin
