"Sonnets Since September": III

From dawn to dusk I’d wander ‘long her shore
Only to want her less, but need her more.
I’d come; I’d go, bound by her ebb and flow;
Pulled by her tide- her heart’s strong undertow.
My own is now adrift (all hope’s dismayed)
Pulled by her tide- her heart swept it away;
My soul is now alone and lost at sea
And everyone, save her, does pity me.
And if I could, I would return once more
Alas! I’m shackled to the ocean’s floor
And buried here ten thousand fathoms deep,
I share with you this secret I do keep:
She was my ocean; this, I must confess:
I was only her wave; no more, no less.

Great series of poems

Fascinating style, use of the ocean as metaphor. I enjoyed reading each of these and it will be a pleasure to read them again. Thanks for sharing these. raskin

“Tide of Her Heart”
words & music by: Brent Taylor Stenhouse

Verse 1:
I was only her wave
But she was my ocean
She set me in motion
With the Tide of Her Heart

Verse 2:
I would wander her shore
Her ebb and her flow
She’d come and she’d go
With the Tide of Her Heart

Bridge:
If you could shed a teardrop tomorrow
For every sailor lost at sea
You would find you’re swimming in sorrow
Drowning for eternity

Verse 3 (repeat Verse 1)

Verse 4:
Now my heart is adrift
My hope is dismayed
She swept it away
With the Tide of Her Heart

Bridge (repeat)
