Stampede!!!

We made camp along the Colorado River
Watched the cattle bedded down
Made a camp fire and ate supper
Spread our bedrolls on that desert floor
Me and Willie, we took first guard
the sage never smelled so sweet
That western moon, was blazin’

Way over yonder, in the distance
Did I see lightnin', did I hear thunder?
Mind is weary, could use some rest
All at once, the wind shifted
Clouds roll in from behind the mountains
The cattle, are gettin' restless

Smell the rain, hear the thunder
The midnight sky, turns black
The lightnin' crashes,
It's rank as Satan's breath.

Dust clouds rise, as the rain falls
I feel the longhorns brush against me
Then all at once, my pony stumbles
We hit the ground, I rise to my knees
In a flash of lightnin’, the cattle are comin'
Lord I know I'm gonna die

Then I awake, and I look around
I'm layin' on the ground
There's the wagon, and the campfire
It was only dreamin', but what's that sound?
I feel the earth tremble under me
As the midnight sky begins to bleed
And from the blackness I can hear Willie yellin'
Stampede!!!
