Dreaming is Such Sweet Sorrow
Glistening lights swirl around me.
The myriad of colours caused by the sun setting behind the misty mountain peaks captivate me.
If beauty were a moment, surely this would be it.
I awake, to darkness.
The lights have faded.
The colours are no more.
The trees are a meagre green blur as I race passed them.
The wind whips my tangled hair upon my face.
I move fast,
I move faster,
Nothing can stop me,
I am invincible,
I am untouchable,
I am free.
I awake, I cannot move.
The ground remains immobile beneath me.
The warmth of your breath is on the back of my neck.
I can feel your chest pressed against my bare back,
The contours of your shapely body intertwined with mine.
I awake, I am cold.
I feel only the sheets beneath me and the chilled gusts of wind pouring over me through an open window.
I am blind,
In my dreams I can see all of the world’s endless beauty.
I am crippled,
In my dreams I am as swift and agile as any.
I am alone,
In my dreams you lay beside me.

This is a wonderful poem. So much can happen in dreams and they can have such strong meanings. Really liked your use of language in this, too.
