The rain is beautiful
Torrents of heaven's fury
Pouring to the earth in storm
I love the rain
Such a contrast to sunlight
Harsh and unforgiving
Stealing shadows
But the rain
Dark and intimate
Hiding secrets and washing away memories
Cold winter rain
I watch like a voyeur
Reveling in the mystery and sensuality
So inspiring
Moonlight and streetlights
Cast long shadows
Like yawns
Trees, bare of leaves
Become outstretched arms
And summon the skies
It dances silver on the pavement
Washing away the last of autumn
To scrub the world clean for winter
Huddling together in puddles
As if seeking warmth
And the comfort of summer
It is the last rain of the year
And it wants to be remembered
