The Great Wall

I am as
The Great Wall

Imposing and expansive
Long arms stretching strong
Towers manned with watchful eyes
Protecting and
Protected

Bricks and bricks built
By each day's strife
Of loves and lies and of no more
Strenthened by fiery kilns of resolve
Mortar of sticky determination

Built from humble beginnings
With grand intentions it spread
Reaching tall and growing wide

Impenetrable by design
Quiet strength and
Confident in purpose
There was no better fortress....

My Great Wall

Bested
By an ill timed blink
And one, coy and
Clever enough
To have carried a ladder
