It begins on the worst of nights;
great waves tearing at the shore,
rain and dark clouds blacking out the stars
with winds so high they’d dash ships onto

A surface that glistens, in the mid-day sun;
A thousand blue sapphires, floating as one.
A fresh salty tang, hangs in the air;
On an inbound sea breeze, that ruffles through hair.
