Engagement Ring
You said you would give me an engagement ring,
Happy laughter and joy it would bring
Tiny girls with flowers in their hair,
Beautiful women tending to me with enduring care.
A sunny day with no cloud in sight,
Our lines of "I do," you said would make everything all right.
Dancing till midnight and a Caribbean honeymoon,
Not coming home until the fifth of June.
Sticky fingers plastered on the wall,
Album books filled with pictures of graduation and when they use to crawl.
Unfading love and a Golden Aniversary,
Twin graves in a flower bed of diversity.
I took the chance and said yes that day,
I will never forget that month of May.
Love is not like those reality shows,
Where fake relationships and fast weddings last for who knows.
It's about commitment, passion, and everlasting care,
It's about timeless memories and a life that you can share.
Love is a blessing that we receive from God,
and it's a magical reaction when your even and you find your odd.
